Welcome to the Glenbrook Community Center PLAYSCHOOL.
We are happy that you have found our website.

We feel that preschool is an important beginning for your child’s education. During these years, your child establishes his/her orientation to school, learning, and their own innate qualities. Understanding that this time is invaluable, our staff is eager to provide the best possible preschool experience for each of our students.

PLAYSCHOOL Goals and Objectives:
The goal of our program is to provide a safe, nurturing environment with a variety of experiences that will allow each child to:

1. A. Develop confidence and a positive self-image.

2. Make a successful break from home.

3. Participate in group activities.

4. Encourage curiosity, creativity and self-expression.

5. Develop self-control and a sense of responsibility.

  
We fill each session with a variety of structured and nonstructural activities. Each activity is designed to encourage specific skills which are appropriate to each child’s age and level of development. We use guidelines recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children when evaluating activities.

What will my child do at school today?
Circle Time - The entire class gathers in a special area for a morning chat. Children are encouraged to take turns speaking and listening to each other, as well as listening to the teacher.

ABCs and 123s- Our head teacher will design your child’s day with a comprehensive and age appropriate curriculum. Fun projects and discussions will introduce your child to Math, Science, Social Studies, Dramatic Play, Language Skills, Sensory Awareness , Music, Art, Cooking, as well as Emotional and Social Skills.

Gym - Our gym program is designed to develop gross and fine motor skills while encouraging co-ordination and confidence.

Playground - Our playground holds climbing areas, a sand area, play houses, and hopscotch.

Field Trips - We visit the Glenbrook Fire House, The Stamford Museum and Nature Center, Stew Leonard's, Stepping Stones Museum for Children and Cove Island Beach.

Free play Time - Social interaction, critical thinking and problem solving skills are all part of co-operative free play. Children may choose to build skyscrapers from blocks, create great works of art, play “house,” or simply relax with a good picture book.

Snack Time - Our students bring their own snacks and lunches each day

last two days in February and continues throughout the school year. ***

Class Schedules
Pre kindergarten for children 4 years old.
Monday through Friday- 9:00 a.m. - noon / noon to 3:00 p.m.

Preschool for children 3 years old.
Monday through Friday - 9:00 a.m. - noon / noon to 3:00 p.m.

A Preschool Toddler Program for children 2 years old.
Monday through Friday- 9:00 a.m. - noon / noon to 3:00 a.m.

Fees: $20.00 per session / Sibling rate: $18.00 per session
 

PLAYSCHOOL Summer Session
As an extension to our PLAYSCHOOL Program, we offer a Summer Session for three and four year olds. This recreational program is a fun way for your child to spend a few weeks in the sunshine with their friends. The day will begin with free play and craft projects. Then out to the playground to jump rope, build sand castles, play ball, and have adventures! We also have water sprinklers and baby pools to keep everyone cool.

Summer Session: 7 weeks Monday - Friday
Hours : 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Fees: $30.00 per day
We take a maximum of 18 children per day
 
Children entering kindergarten also have the option to register for the PLAYSCHOOL session.
